Pus in the stool is a dangerous pathological symptom that is always associated with a severe inflammatory process in the body. Typically, this symptom does not appear alone and is accompanied by other clinical symptoms – the presence in the stool of mucus and blood worms, pieces of undigested food.
Purulent fluid can be caused by many pathologies of the gastrointestinal tract, including:
- Neoplastic processes in the large and small intestines;
- Infectious colitis;
- Dysbacteriosis of the intestine;
- A cyst of the coccyx;
- Ulcerative colitis;
- Proctitis and paraproktit;
- Ulcer of the rectum;
- The malicious activity of parasites, helminths.
The elimination of pus in feces will be associated with the treatment of the underlying disease – usually, the therapy of such pathologies is very long and may not be limited to conservative measures.
